The Gramercy Neighborhood Associates, for 84 years dedicated to the needs of the community surrounding the park, is currently engaged in an effort to have the boundaries of the district redrawn. Much that is essential in the wider context of the park is today totally unprotected and could be ruined or even demolished. These treasures are carefully described in Gramercy: Its Architectural Surroundings, a book by Andrew Scott Dolkart, one of New York's most distinguished architectural historians.
